Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Saw this locally and am curious if: 1. Does it fit a 986 2. If it does, is it better/worse than the original? 981 Shifter

POST 2Original post

1. By the looks of it, it won't be a direct fit. So buy it and let us know what you need to do to make it work ;-) 2. The OEM 986 shifter is quite rubbish, so in any sense the 981 should be better. I have upgraded from 986 to 987 (which is a direct fit) and that is a significant upgrade. Also there are aftermarket parts for the 986 and 987 shifters to make them a lot better than what Porsche wanted to give us.
