Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, I'm back owning a 996. I had an 01 over 7 years ago. Just got an 04 now. Any advise on first mods? Does a cold air intake worth it? Looking forward to learn more on theses beautiful cars I also have a 22 Macan GTS and a Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer

Welcome to the forum, love the black, same color as my soul!

POST 3Original post

Welcome back! A lot of stuff happened over 7 years here, and I've only seen 3 of it. Great fun coming up! Sorry, no specific mod recommendations excepting that you need to refresh everything that the previous owner didn't... Good luck.

Welcome back! My honest advice is to skip the “mods” and stick with maintenance and preventative maintenance. It won’t take long to burn a budget there alone, particularly if you hang around here long . That said, my favourite and most reliable mod is the little gauge trim rings I picked up from some guy in Poland.

As others have said, make sure the maintenance is 100% corrected first. Join PCA, if you are not a member, and get involved with your local club.

There is no such thing as a cold air intake. You already have the best cold intake there is. Do your maintenance and enjoy the car.

POST 7Original post

Welcome back! Your car looks to be in pretty fine fettle. What’s the backstory on maintenance and age of suspension, stuff like that? Mods to do? Gundo hack and improvements/updates to a 20 year old interior would be all I’d suggest for near term.

Welcome back. Heres my recommendation on mods -997.2 GT3 shifter -$600, easy to install and reduces throw 40/60% -Fabspeed dual cold air intake -best whp for the money vw the other kits -Spyder Performance Plenum. -400 and same results as the overprice ipd plenum -GT3 matching throttle body thats to let the car breath better. Keep all the oem parts in a safe place in case you ever want to sell.

Welcome from a newish member. Still learning a lot and maintenance is key. I did join PCA and well worth it.
