Thought there might be some interest in this vid, a lot of chat, to extend the length of the vid, but I found it interesting to get under a 996 with in excess of 100k miles on the clock which has had multiple owners and bought at auction... The first main expenditure was to buy a set of wheels, when it had a water leak, and ticking sound at idle......!!! The car is taken to an indy for inspection, you can perhaps guess the rest...?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I follow him on YouTube “shifting metal” seems to be a decent enough guy, shows what goes on behind the scenes of a second hand car sales business to a certain extent. He has had a few Porsches through his garage, this is obviously what you get when you buy a 996 for 7k!! Interesting nonetheless
I watched this yesterday , does look like bore scoring and serious money to fix but it looks like he's going to do it.

Buying at the right price will probably mean that he'll end up with a very usable car that he can sell at any time without making a loss. It's the people that pay £20k for a similar car and then have a big bill that I feel sorry for.
As mentioned he should be able to get it fixed and not be in a financial hole
A friend has just picked up a 996.2 for £8000 a few weeks back. He’s had it inspected after purchase and he’s come up trumps, the paintwork is rough, but no rust or damage, so for £2000 quoted to re paint he’s got a great car for £10000
He's just tried flogging it to We buy any car, but they only offered 5k, may as well just get it sorted, he paid 1k for some wheels the mind boggles.
...and probably got a few quid for the lobster claws.
The YouTube series of videos on the car will help his cause..I'm guessing content is king over his car dealing endeavours
