Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This may be an aftermarket alarm, and could be a major cause of your electrical gremlins.
Pretty certain that's an aftermarket horn. Haven't heard anything OEM ever with an alarm siren that had a rechargeable battery attached to it -- probably something to continue even if the battery died. I'd strip it out.
Not sure if this was what you were asking about? Does it have VAG markings and a part number 951605B or similar as attached pic? Only noticed my hazards were flashing one night with no siren and mine one has just failed. A quick Google suggests there is an internal rechargeable battery in the alarm siren unit that fails between 8-12 yr point. It has an independent battery for the siren if someone tries to steal the car and cuts power from battery. Porsche wants around £260 plus another £57 for a harness adapter as part number has been supersceeded. Plenty of cheap Chinese ones or cheaper VW Skoda units on eBay. There are a few different types and I didn't see the point of buying a used one that might fail again very quickly because of age...
That unit comes back to the original manufacturer, Cobra Automotive Technologies, which was bought out by Vodafone in 2014. Much cheaper, and obviously much more advanced than that 12+ year old unit. Just based on the age of that alarm the battery must be of an obsolete variety, with newer ones probably having a much longer life. Like Jock McMad suggests there are many cheaper, and much better replacements out there. Good thing is you found the source for your electrical issues.
