Some of you may have seen this post on a 996 FB group. Not sure about the animation sequence, but when its lit I think I quite like it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cheaper than upgrading to a 4S !
Interesting. Is that on permanently with the rear lights?

For me a C4S is a differently focused car rather than an upgrade. I looked at several when I decided on my C2 and whilst the C4S widebody looked nice and the AWD and extra weight made it really planted and secure feeling, but also diluted some of the reasons I wanted another 911 i.e. light, raw, fizzy RWD manual like my old 3.2 Carrera, so I went for the C2 in the end and spent the difference in cost on suspension & brake refresh, head unit upgrade and major service at AutoFarm.

Sorry not sure what happened there, garbled response. I was saying it's not mine I just spotted it in a video on the 996 modifications FB group and it caught my eye. The strips are actually animated so when they come on they do a couple of symmetrical sweeps before staying on as in the screenshot. This chap wired into the sidelights/markers so came on with them, but could easily be tapped to ACC to come on with ignition, they're only about £17 on Amazon. Not sure how neat and OEM+ they could be made to look in reality, they'd need to be really straight and look good/invisible when they were off and the car was in daylight. Might get one to play with but could see me doing it for fun and then taking it straight off again!
Hmmm, i kinda like it but can't help but feel it's too much like all EV's on the road at the mo. For £17 it's gotta be worth a punt to someone..? Would probably look better with updated led rear light clusters. I noticed the Missouri reg.

I also have a 991.1 C2 Black edition as well as the 996.2 C4S so I understand what you are talking about. The C2 is a very pure experience and ideal for track. The 4S is a lovely road car with very good manners. With some cars the 'base' model is clearly inferior in most respects to the models further up the range, but with the C2 vs C4S it's actually a different car with different merits. In terms of 'upgrade' I was really referring to price. The 4S is a lot dearer from new, and hence also as used. Ironically, both the 991.1 C2 Black Edition and the 996.2 C4S were effectively 'run out' models, using up some good existing parts in the last years of production before a refresh. This was also the case with the 997.2 GTS which became another repeated pattern.

Yes I agree, I originally set out for a C4S as I think they look great and I always fancied a widebody. When I had my 3.2 Carrera Sport I always lusted after the Super Sport with its incredible wide-hipped back end! Most of them were great to drive and had all the options, but almost too sure-footed and refined. The last 15 years I've had big heavy and powerful BMW turbo automatics (7 series, X5 etc.) which were fast, solid and comfortable, so when I had the chance to get a fun car to sit alongside my X5, it had to be the polar opposite; Light, old, manual, high-revving, RWD and a bit scary! The 996.2 C2 I picked has a lot of the luxury options but definitely gives me those driving ahem, 'moments' that I had been missing!
Just no, doesn't belong on a semi-classic 911.
