Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well after the drama of the last few weeks, finally got the induction kit (K&N, claimed 23.4HP at the wheels... ) fitted. Wow. Faster throttle pick up, revs more freely and the noise it makes at 5000 RPM in third is just hairsonbackofneckstandingupgood. So much so that i've decided against the sports exhaust/muffler bypass for the time being. With the roof down yesterday overtaking a couple of cars it sounded incredible. Fully recommend them, doddle to fit (the hardest bit being the actual assembly of the thing prior to fitting). Also looks better in the engine bay than the standard airbox i reckon Got mine from design911.co.uk as it seemed to be the only place i could find stocking K&N inductions kits for the 996...... lovely Migration info. Hi, Yes, I'd be very interested to see a pic of this install too! ? ;-) Migration info. Legacy thread was 133044

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

you lot are so demanding..... Tsch. I'll try and take some pics tonight for you but in terms of fitting its a straight swap, the quality of the K&N fitting is great, has the little rubber grommits to slot straight into the holes etc, rubber trim to surround the heat shield.... nice And a great performance improvement for £340 IMO Migration info. POST 11Original post

Looks pretty good..! Cheers for the pics.. Do you find any difference in pickup/acceleration... or just induction noise?? Curious as have heard other people say that the oiled k&n filters are sometimes not the best for Porsches!? N Migration info. Legacy thread was 133523

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

throttle response seems quicker Niall, not sure i know the car well enough yet to know if it improves acceleration (i usually have my eyes closed when i'm going that fast, its scary ). But a claimed 23.4 ho at the wheels must make some difference i guess... The noise really kicks in at around 5000 rpm, its a real deep booming kinding of roar vs (as i understand it) more of a racing car howl from PSE, muffler bypass etc. needles to say most drives at the weekend were spent in third gear at above 5000 rpm Migration info. POST 13Original post

Sounds good Tim! I've not had my 996 for that long either.. (about 1.5 mths), so still acclimatising to it as well! It is quick, .....but as you say, 23.4 hp at wheels is a fair old improvement and even if it was HALF of that it would still be good value for money !! N Migration info. Legacy thread was 133600

POST 14Original post

Silly question but does fitting it effect an opc warranty ? Migration info. Legacy thread was 133606
