Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone point me to the part number of the connector on the coolant hose that is just to the right of the oil filler tube and passes through the bracket on the engine to the right of alternator there. Pic attached (connector sheared so I put temporary (white) hose connector in there). thx 2002 996 C2 Targa

Part #18 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=104-10

POST 3Original post

Far better to replace that plastic fitting with a brass hose bib and be done with it forever.

POST 5Original post

Keep 3 or 4 for spares if you want to keep the OEM look. They break easily if you barely bump them while doing routine PM.

POST 6Original post

This may be one of KK's PLAGED UNIQUE ISSUES that can be forever forgotten with a common brass hose connector or a stock part that will most likely last more years than you care to remember.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To save me two trips to home depot - what size of brass connector should I get ? thx

POST 8Original post

This was my fix to keep the coolant hose away from the belt... Drilled out broken part with 3/8" bit for a tight fit with 3/8" brass gas line connector from O'Rilley autoparts. $5 which is same a little more than OEM part 996.106.226.52 but should last awhile. Broken part from someone else's car posted online. Modified bracket to mount hose and keep away from drive pelt.
