I bought my first Porsche a few months back and I'm loving it, I really am - I enjoy every single drive But my budget stretched only as far as an 18 year old car and while I shopped around, test drove, did a stack of research and found what I thought was a pretty good little beast, there are a string of little things (and some bigger things) wrong with it that I'd like to address. After I bought it I took it in to my local Porsche specialist and they did a full post-purchase inspection and gave me a list of things that could be worked on. They weren't pushy about any of it, said I basically had a decent car there and I'd clearly done my research - but it's 18 years old right? So - it It's a long list and I could do with some help prioritising it, getting some opinions on what I could / should focus on. I am no DIY-er - I have no skills, tools or time to do any of this work myself - so I'm going to be taking my car in to my local specialist at Precision Porsche (PP) and have a plan that over the next five years I'll invest a bit of money each year in working through this - but some things are bound to need some urgent attention. What do you think? Any major alarm bells or red flags here? Anything I should watch out for? What would you go for first? Clutch - it creaks. Kinda annoyingly. I mean, it works totally fine, it's doing everything a clutch should do, but particularly on slow release finding the biting point in first gear, I can feel it creaking through my foot, if you know what I mean? Guys at PP have said it's maybe the clutch cover creaking? Anyhow - at £800+ it's a biggy and I'm not sure whether to bite the bullet or not. Car's only done 52k miles Aircon - it's not getting cold but all the vents / blowers are working OK. This isn't bothering me too much, I'm in the UK so in winter I won't need it and in summer I have the top down so... the guys at PP have inspected and say that both condensers are leaking slightly, so this is prob the cause, and this job could be a biggie at around £1,200. - it's not high up my list Suspension - Creaking / squeaking noise from front offside suspension arm and anti roll bar area - particularly going over bumps at low speed I can hear it. Again it's not causing any major problem and it drives fine, it's more an annoyance - but could this indicate something much worse? Paintwork - to be honest it's pretty good, no dents or scratches. there's a few chips on the front sills leading edges and a small scuff on the front bumper, a little bit of swirling and some very very faint scratches where someone's been heavy handed with hand washing... is detailing / paint protection / ceramic coating worth the money? Swivel Joint - Slight play in nearside front lower swivel joint Bump stops - both front have perished and dropped Transmission - oil replacement due at 12 years and no record of this being done in the service history / paperwork etc (I bought it private sale, I'm the 6th owner) Roof Elastic - it's snapped so that when I close the roof, it doesn't fully seat itself back in the right place - I have spotted this awesome post and might well attempt the DIY! Bit scary for me though as I'm just not very practical with this stuff Door Mirror - base to the drivers side is cracked and has a bit missing from the mechanism so it doesn't fold and lock folded with the little lever. It's not much of an issue, in it's current position you can't really see the crack and it's working fine as a mirror - electric adjustment all works etc Interior light - one of the switches above the rear view mirror is pushed in and broken - but the other one works fine. Oil misting - slight misting noted on bank 1 timing chain area Alarm - not working I'm up for a free for all warts n all opinions on what's important, honestly I don't mind if you tell me I've bought a dog, I'm having too much fun and I ain't getting rid of it - I'm quite happy to put some energy and money into this list, I just can't do it all at once! What do you think?

Is this a daily driver, or just a fun weekend toy? I'm getting at that there doesn't seem to be any serious issues at the moment. But knowing Porsches, something will raise it's ugly head in the next year that will need to be taken care of immediately. Plan for it and budget for it. Things like shifter cables, water pumps, belt, hoses. A car that old will have things give-out without warning. So keep that list and fix the things that are critical immediately, then have the rest done when you can. Prioritize what bugs you the most. My 987.2 has nearly 14yrs since build date. I've had it since new and it was my daily driver until I retired. I had plenty of things fail - mostly when it was under warranty. I do all the routine maintenance myself. But now it has 95K miles and is mainly a garage queen - taken out just for fun in good weather. So I don't worry as much about reliability. As far as I know, the only issues are normal wear&tear - scuffs, scratches etc. From 5 ft away it looks new. I'm still proud to own it.
I suggest getting the front suspension sorted. Swivel Joint, creaks and especially the bump stops (These are really important to prevent damage from the inevitable hole in the road). Than the top elastics. Clutch noise - is that from the engine area or the pedal?
Evening, I see you’re in the UK. Where abouts? I’ve done plenty of work on my car and if you’re not too far away you’re welcome to come to mine and I’ll help save you money on labour. I’ve replaced all the suspension, control arms, clutch, toe arms etc etc so familiar with the jobs. Bit of an a mature detailer too have all the gear, and a lot of the idea too and love time in the garage. If you’re on Instagram follow me s1_hpy cheers Simon
