Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

The powerkit had just appear on the configurator for 2010 model year. It includes modified cylinder head, different intake, sports exhaust and remapped ecu.All these mods push the power up from 385bhp to 408bhp which will almost help the 997c2s to keep up with the Gen 1 997 Gt3. It will cost more than £8000 in UK. Don't think many potential 997 owners will go for this option!

POST 2Original post

If X51 were $5-7K people might go for it more routinely, but not at $15-17K USD. At 385HP I already have difficulty keeping the car under the speed limit just in and around town. Let's face it, if you want that kind of HP the GT3 is probably a better deal in terms of price and focus as a track car. As a sports touring car my C2S Cab has plenty of muscle as is. Resale on X51 has never been strong either. I bet the CF intake plenum will look good though!

POST 3Original post

I'm willing to be you can put an aftermarket ECU tune, intake and exhaust on and get the same or better HP numbers for maybe 1/4th the price. You could always pick up an X51 decal and slap it on the back...

POST 4Original post

One other point, buying a crate 3.8 motor vs. a 3.8 X51 motor is only a couple K different in price, so if you knew you were going to swap motors say in a Cayman, I'd hold out for the X51 because it doesnt' cost much more in that regard. Just a thought...

POST 5Original post

I think those who go for this option might have also tick the lsd and sport chassis option as well. They just want a 4 seater GT3!

POST 6Original post

You know I hadn't thought of that, but one could make a very potent Carrera S w/ Sport PASM/LSD and X51. You can also add PDK which the GT3 does not offer. I'm not crazy about the aero kit which I wouldn't add, so that's also a potential plus for some.

POST 7Original post

Dave, You forgot the ceramic disc. You need that to turn your 997 into a four seat GT3! When the 998 come out in 2012, I doubted it will have more than 410bhp due to stricter emission and the fact that a flat 6 cannot go beyond 4 litre. I don't think I will be interested in a 911 with stop-start technology or hybrid technology either! If the dealer offer me silly trade-in price, I might just fit the powerkit instead!
