Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All I'm wanting to update the head unit (stereo) in my 996, I'm told I can't just fit any old double din unit. What are my options? James

POST 2Original post

The problem used to be that the amplifier has fibre optic inputs rather than wired connections. However, there are now a couple of options. You can get an interface which converts the line outputs from a new head unit to fibre optic inputs to the amp. It is made by Connects2. An alternative is to look at the Dynavin head unit, which has fibre optic outputs. They do a model specifically for Porsche. I understand it is cheapest to buy them direct from Dynavin (in Germany IIRC).
