Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How is everyone on this thundery June evening? I'm considering the possibility of coming back to Porsche ownership, but looking at either a 996 Turbo or a Cayman S. There are lots of other cars out there that I am also thinking of but thought I would pop in and say hi Hope everyone is doing well and your 996's are treating you well. I don't suppose anyone has come across my old 996 have they? I miss that car...

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh and here is one of the Turbo's I have added to my potential car list: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-911-996-3-6-Turbo-2dr-SAT-NAV-ELECTRIC-SUNROOF-PETROL-MANUAL-2002-51-/231555418085?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e9c747e5 However the list is diverse, this is also one of them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S197-mustang-cervini-low-miles-with-host-of-mods-/301652675369?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item463be68b29

POST 3Original post

Welcome back Steve! I'm not a fan of American muscle myself, but each to his own. Too brash for me - I prefer something more subtle. [ ]

Good to hear from you again. 996 turbo is the way to go but I am biased.

POST 5Original post

I went to see that one before I bought mine, on the same day in fact. I really didn't like the dealers, poor directions to find them, wasn't offerred a drink, despite travelling for 4 hours to get there and then their toilet was in a portaloo outside. The staff didn't really know the history of the car (i.e. when it had last had the clutch done, etc, as it is possibly due about this mileage), and it had a big scratch on the back/roof area, on the leather in the drivers footwell and the gear lever was also used. The tyres were low on tread, the wheels are off a GT3, so oversize (nice if that is what you want) and it was nearly twice the mileage of the car that I bought for the same money. Compared to others, it drove well and was generally in good condition, but personally I decided to walk away, for the reasons above. You might go down there, find it easily, like the people, like the car and decide to go ahead, but I almost ran out of there.

POST 6Original post

At that sort of money I would be bias to a classic http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/221781023565?nav=SEARCH Hertz replica[ ] Or a 964

POST 7Original post

Hello Steve Hope you get another 996 as your previous posts were always good to read, with all the work you carried out. Good luck with your searching. Cheers Phil
