Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello. I'm having a problem with the tiptronic transmission in my 2008 Cayman 987.1 . The car only has 120,000 kilometers on the clock, and it shifts from second to third gear in auto mode strangely. Is this a common and serious gearbox problem? J.C.

POST 2Original post

Hello JC..The transmission control electronics of the Boxster/Cayman - is a "learning" system. It learns how you drive, and adjusts the shifting accordingly. Sometimes it gets confused and needs to be brainwashed. A dealer can do that, or you can if you have Sport/Sport-Plus on the car. If you do - put it in Sport mode and go out and thrash the car for a while. You'll find it shifts much more readily with firmer shifts. If you want Cadillac sort of shifts (and some Caddy's use the same basic transmission) - drag your grandmother out of wherever she is - and have her drive it for a week. It will shift gentle as a lamb. Welcome to planet 9 - any pics of your Cayman (we like pics..)
