Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I'm working on a 2008 Porsche Cayman S with some damage on the front right fender and when I removed the plastic fender liner I noticed a connector hanging, this connector comes from the same harness for the fuel door actuator connector. All I know so far is that this connector plugs to a sensor. Does anyone one know what sensor is this or where's located at? Thanks for your help!

POST 2Original post

Fuel door actuator connector? I don't even know what that is. The fuel doors are purely mechanical on everything I've seen. Post a picture. That will help

POST 3Original post

There is a solenoid that will lock the fuel door after some time. It stays unlocked long enough after you’ve pulled up to a fuel station that you don’t notice it, but try opening your fuel door before you unlock the car… not sure about the original question. Sorry 🙁

POST 4Original post

Reading here about some of the confusion regarding the locking fuel filler door, and wanted to add this tidbit that many may not be aware of concerning this. This relates to any failure of the locking mechanism. There is a workaround if this occurs. I found this out when I purchased a 996 from a reseller and stopped to top up the tank for the drive home and stood at the gas pump perplexed when I couldn’t open the flap. Discovered this by frantically thumbing through the owners manual.

My wife tends to lock doors. If I walk out the front door to work in the yard the door gets locked behind me🤯. When we first got her 958 Cayenne ( which I almost always fill up) she went to fill it. Got out the door, locked the car with the remote. Now the filler door is locked. While she was in the midst off calling me to find out how to get it open, a helpful gas station patron googled the problem and I could hear him solving the problem over the phone. If you unlock the car the fuel door will open. Lesson learned?
