Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2012 Carrera 2 coupe /991.1/ Brake master cylinder 1. What is the technique for removing the clutch slave cylinder return line to the MC fluid reservoir? Looks like a pull off / pry off ?? and insight? See pix 2. I’m replacing my master cylinder – as I think I “broke” the first MC by aggressively pumping the brakes after a brake fluid flush – and the reservoir was not topped off.. then I noticed “sponginess” in the pedal – it would not hold pressure. Later validated that chamber#1 [forward] I kept getting air and some fluid when brake pedal was pushed. Chamber #2 – all fluid. 3. What is consensus whether to bench bleed MC before installing in car or bleed MC after it’s installed. I am thinking of installing MC first – then bleed. Rationale – installing a wet/full of brake fluid MC/reservoir back into the car is messy and I’d like to keep the process as clean as I can. 4. I’ll also need to bleed the clutch system. My understanding – 991 clutch master cylinder – no bleed nipple. 991 clutch slave cylinder – bleed nipple – it bleeds the entire system. Am I correct?? Any other insights for bleeding clutch system?? Thanks for any assistance
