Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

After seeing pictures of other Cayman 's front storage compartment I noticed that there isn't a charcoal cannister in my car! And that the plastic pieces are very different in there.. (see attachment) So, what is the charcoal cannister used for? Environment thing? Is it only Japanese cars that doesn't have it? I wonder if I need on by law when I move back to Sweden...

POST 2Original post

Wow, that's interesting. You are missing all the plastic trim that, at least in the US, would be covering where the Nav and CD Changer would go. Is that a special version just for Japan, or did you order some odd option? For moving back, what side of the street do they drive on in Sweden? In the long run, it might be easier to sell your current car in Japan and buy a new one when you move back.

POST 3Original post

The charcoal canister is an emission device. It is attached to the fuel tank vent and is designed to reduce the introduction of fuel vapors from the fuel tank into the atmosphere. I am not sure if Sweden's emission requirements mandate this or not. U.S. emission requirements do.

POST 4Original post

No, I didn't order any odd option. Actually I bought the car for bringing it to Sweden so it's ready for it; LHD for driving on the right side of the street. It was much cheaper here than in Sweden even if I include the shipping in the cost. Reason for the price different are mainly due to exchange rate and tax (comsumption tax is 25% in Sweden!). The price for my CS with options was lower then what a Cayman (non S) with absolutly no options would cost in Sweden. Then there are special rules when bring a car home that have been used in a household abroad; no import tax, no comsumption tax, don't have to follow the laws for brakes, seatbelts, tail lights, exhaust emission and many other things. I.e. it's very good if you want to tune the car! Everybody in Sweden wants this type of imported car! But then if have to install this cannister, it will eat of my profit.. hope I don't need it.
