Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I'm looking to but 996 C4 and I noticed that some of them coming with white clusters but other with black. Why they are different?

POST 2Original post

I think black was standard and white (and other colours maybe) was optional extra. Could also be an aftermarket mod

POST 3Original post

Just option choices on the 996 I think. It might be that the 4S comes with white as standard? On the boxtser and 997 etc. Black is for base cars and white is the S models. Mine came with white and I just prefer the black, I don't like to see all the indicator markers etc. that you see on the coloured dials, on the black ones they just disappear. The clusters are different between RWD and AWD, due to the split fuel tank on AWD cars, but if you buy a different cluster you can just remove the whole of the front and put another one on. The cluster is in two parts, the rear is the PCB and all the coding to your car, the front is just the dials.

POST 5Original post

For reference, my 2002 C4S has black dials so its not a S vs non-S thing.

POST 7Original post

My 99 C4 has black too.... thinking about a coloured tachometer though.... love the yellow once from later higher spec cars.
