Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone please tell me the main differences between the standard Carrera 4 and the 4S apart from the wider body and turbo look front end? We are looking for a 996 and my wife loves the look of the Carrera 4S but I want to make sure there are no hidden 'drawbacks' to this spec. Also, in what years was the 996 4S sold in RHD?

POST 2Original post

As you say, wide body, full width rear reflector, turbo front end. Also, turbo brakes, lowered suspension. Standard spec included a bit more leather trim than standard, sound pack, electric memory seats. They were available from 02 2002 til 2004, maybe some 05. No particular drawbacks at all- its a cracking car. I love mine to bits, even after 2k miles a month! The only debate now is that the prices are so strong that only a bit more will buy a Turbo...

POST 3Original post

Hi The C4S has the Turbo brakes and suspension, rear tyres are 295's as opposed to 285's. Might be a touch slower than the narrow bodies (extra weight and surface area), but I suspect nothing you would notice in real world driving. If I were to get one I'd make sure it had the sports exhaust.

POST 4Original post

It has the stiffer chassis as well doesn't it? It's 65kg heavier than the standard C4: Coupe - 1495kg, 1550kg (Man/Tip) 5mm longer, 60mm wider, 20mm lower (suspension 10mm drop): 4435mm, 1830mm, 1295mm.

POST 6Original post

Totally IMO. Yes it may be a little heavier etc, but in the real world, who cares. It would prob be my first choice if I had a bigger budget
