Fairly new to Porsches, although I've wanted one since I rode in my friend's 1967 911 in Germany. Quick question: can you give me your thoughts on purchasing a pristine 997.2 vs. purchasing a pristine, though more expensive, 991? Both are C2S, configured identically. Thanks. Hope to continue in the forum as an owner...

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

have you driven both of them? I personally would buy a 997.2
I have a 997.2 GTS. I have test driven 991s several times and I have had one as a service loaner. In my opinion the answer revolves around what you want. If you want a more luxurious, technologically updated and comfortable Grand Tourer (which still sports legitimate sports car bones) then the 991. If you want a car that retains a lot of the traditional 911 feel with hydraulic steering, a real handbrake, a shorter wheelbase and more engaging (to me) driving feel then choose a 997.2 although they are becoming harder to find these days due to the relatively low production numbers due to the financial crisis (which hit exactly when the 997.2 launched). BTW I am also local in Cary.
