Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Are you asking for insurance purposes, inheritance tax purposes or 'real-life' purposes?

POST 2Original post

Auto farm sold an '88 carrera targa for 20k - trade in must be around 4k less. Yours is obviously older with an odd history which may put people off, but it's a turbo on the other hand. I'd guess you may get a sale of anything up to 15k, but could be wrong.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Real life value please, and it is a full cabriolet, which I have been told is rare...P.S. it seems very quick any idea on performance spec as well.

POST 4Original post

A 1984 turbo will have 300 bhp and a four speed box if I remember. In a cabriolet body that might be good for 5.6 0-60 and a top speed of about 155. Only my estimates.

POST 5Original post

it might be tricky to ascertain real life value due to the conversion to RHD (who carried this out?). I suppose the real test will be advertising it at around £15k as Domster said and then seeing what people are willing to pay for it. What a great fun inheiritance though!!

POST 7Original post

It was RR who said that, but I have to agree with you both 100 per cent. The RHD conversion will put off many, as will American provenance, and turbo cabriolets are a funny mix of pose and performance. It's the kind of thing Henry at 911virgin may give cash for, and sell on cheap. 15k is probably max price (condition dependent), although it may go for a few grand less if you wanted to shift it quickly. Maybe as little as 10k. It sounds like it may be better value to hold on to, as should be a fun car. PS The power *may* be less than standard because American models tended to have tougher emissions criteria - maybe only 280 not 300 bhp. You'd have to check. >> Edited by domster on Tuesday 9th July 10:23

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

UPDATE.....Just checked the docs its a 1990 not 1984, I was going by the number plate, Im a dummy its a private plate not year relivant. The RHD coversion was done by a Porsche dealer, who also put a UK spec S/S exhaust on as well. So back to original question whats its value and any idea on performance stats...Thanks

POST 9Original post

OK, this obviously makes some difference. American spec and RHD conversion still count against it, but we should be talking about a later 'Turbo 2' shape - although this is close to a changeover year, so does it have 'bellows'/'concertina' bumpers or smooth ones? If it has smooth bumpers, integral to the body, then it may well be a 320bhp turbo 2 with a five speed box. It would certainly be worth late teens, maybe early twenties. If it has the fussier bumper design (ie they look separate from the overall bodywork, and there are black plastic/rubber ridged 'bellows' at each side) then it will be one of the last 930 Turbos. (The Turbo 2 is classed as a 965 model). I would suggest it is probably worth a minimum of 15k, and a maximum of around 20k. It is a buyer's market at the moment, so this is only a guide... Performance will be roughly the same as the figures posted before. The exhaust may liberate a few more bhp, but shouldn't be hugely noticeable. >> Edited by domster on Tuesday 9th July 16:57 >> Edited by domster on Tuesday 9th July 16:59

POST 10Original post

So basically you still haven't given enough information. Dig out the documentation you have, and post the exact model (if known), year of manufacture (if known), engine displacement (exact, in CCs), etc.

POST 11Original post

But even then it will just be a guide, as it is such a specialist car, and peoples' ideas of condition will be subjective. Also, it is worth what someone will pay, so this forum may arrive at a lower (or higher) figure than you could achieve. More details would be helpful, though. A quick search on the net will yield many results re what spec it is.

POST 12Original post

I'm not sure I would buy a Pcar that had been converted, but then Its really only my opinion!

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its not for sale so you would not get the option
