Greetings all, I'm finally back with another video on restoring my 996, affectionately called Pepper. As my engine gets re-sleeved to a 4.0, I figured I'd tackle the rust issues with the passenger side of the cabin floor. Well, it's time to start cuttin'! Hope you enjoy. P.S. I discuss the cost of the LN Engineering procedure, shipping, and what to expect for a wait time. Did I mention there's green coolant? You Tube

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Entertaining and informative as usual. I've never done anything that ambitious, so the answer may be obvious to some - why did you cut sectionS out of the floor, rather than one piece? I would have expected with your donor floor in such good shape that a single piece in a simple shape would have been easier.
I'll be watching it tonight!

Great question. Because of the odd shape and the huge 6-8" access port I'd have to cut around. Plus there's a support brace forward in the tub I'd have to weld in. This was more efficient.
I am not trying to be critical, but did you know this car had rust issues before you purchased it? I can remember many years ago when I purchased my first Porsche. It was a 1960 356B. I never thought about rust issues in California, until my arm went through the front fender when leaning on it. It was a disaster to repair, as the 356 was a complete unibody, and fenders were welded to the body along with everything else. Sorry that you have go through this hassle.

Yes, I knew it had rust. I didn't know it had rust bad enough to make me do what I'm doing now to fix it. However, hindsight, the market is stupid nuts right now so I'm glad I bought it. It's worth more and will be worth even more with an LN Engineering resleeve done. Not to mention all the knowledge I've gained from going through this whole ordeal. Each time I tackle another restore (if the market allows it to be affordable) I'l have this database of lesson's learned to pull from.
I thought new P cars didn't rust...
Its 20 years old and everything rusts eventually. Wet carpet foam makes it worse. They are more corrosion resistant than older cars, but as always they corrode from the inside out.
Watched it last night, greatly enjoying your channel!

Thanks David! Appreciate your support. Be sure to check out my other videos. Like the "While I'm In There Syndrome" video or my cabriolet series.
Great video. Great production. Not something I would ever undertake but I enjoy watching others and learning about the craft and the tools. Congrats on recovering from the error. Looking forward to the engine install.

Appreciate your support! This car is a veritable cornucopia of opportunities to learn new skills like welding, mechanical, electrical and budgeting all the spending (what's that?)

Oh...I've watched all of them already (including the offbrand ones )!
