Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found “stuff,” something sorta dried black liquid on my wheel. Washed and waxed it off, drove 25 miles and found more, again on the wheel. What is this?

POST 2Original post

Hello and welcome to the forum! Are you able to post a photo of it? Can you trace where it's coming from?

If you have non OEM rotors with uncoated cooling vents between the braking surfaces, they will rust and sling rusty water everywhere. Your rotors look like you are due for brake work, maybe the pads are near the end of their life causing for dusting & possible rotor damage. Once disassembled solution may be obvious.

POST 6Original post

Just saw that you have a 997.2 so I assume you have oe rotors or track the 997.2 If you are under warranty I would take it for service asap.

Thanks all for your help and support. Took it to European Performance in St. Petersburg, FL, where Alex checked the wheel, disassembled the wheel and removed the calipers, basically took it down to the spindle and could not find a source for the dark liquid appearing on the wheel. (Nope, never tracked it.) It remains a mystery wrapped in an enigma!

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
