Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The recent post re IPD plenum versus the Werks 1 prompts the following question. Does anyone have experience with engine performance mods on their 40th? I am a believer in trying to keep things as "stock" as possible but would consider things like the IPD plenum, air intakes etc... Thanks...

POST 2Original post

you may want to read this, from a UK forum http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=60293 not exactly sure how the US engines were configured, I haven't been able to find much

POST 3Original post

I though all 40th anniversary cars had the X51 engine package. The list below is from the 2004 Order guide, but I believe it also had a different plenum (perhaps part of the revised intake manifold). I would be careful about putting intake or cpu mods designed for a standard 996 on an X51 engine, you might end up undoing some of the X51 goodness... Free flow cats would probably help, at the expense of noise. Maybe focus on sharpening the handling? X51 Carrera Power Kit, 345 HP Includes modified cylinder heads, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, control unit, additional central water radiator, and aluminum intake manifold.
