Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

From Rennteam..... http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/magazine/popup_print.asp?print=true&lPageID=3200&id=12663 Who says a Cayman doesn't look good in a dark color.......check out the Dark Teal I believe.

POST 2Original post

the yellow car looks really good too! what is the interior color of the dark car, sand beige?

POST 4Original post

So the Cayman is aimed at younger buyers. I'll be 62 when mine arrives. A very young and fit 62 made younger by a new sports car to play with. I hope my autocross skills have not all gone away.

POST 5Original post

I will be 5 months short of 62 when mine arives. I wonder what makes them distinguish the Cayman S as 'aimed at younger buyers'? I would doubt very much if the vast majority of those inspired to buy the Cayman S did so only because they could not come up with another 11k to buy a 911. You don't have to be young to fall in love with the design and appearance of this car. This is what inspired me to finally buy a Porsche.

POST 6Original post

...that'll be me then - 32 when mine turns up in December (minus it's painted wheels, Porsche crests in seats and stainless pipes!) Dean

POST 7Original post

I will be 57 when mine gets here. At 32 I was paying private school tuition for 3 kids.

POST 8Original post

I'll be 37 when mine arrives next March. It'll be my first Porsche, having enjoyed moving through the performance-car ranks of TT, M3 and VX220 Turbo. No kids and a big mortgage!

POST 9Original post

I'll be 59 when mine arrives ....... at 32 I was racing corvettes and beating porsches both their track set up and ours /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/wink_smile.gif

POST 10Original post

Quote You don't have to be young to fall in love with the design and appearance of this car. This is what inspired me to finally buy a Porsche. --- I coudl not agree with you more. this it the only porshce other than a '72 912 (which does not count) that inspires me to by a porsche.

POST 11Original post

I am 30. I can't see myself in a 911 until I am 40. Hence the Boxster S and the Cayman S for me. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif

POST 12Original post

I'm 53, havea mid-engined race car and want a mid-engine street car that can be a daily driver. Have seen what a challenge a 911can be to handle at the limits (voluntary or otherwise), so the only other Porsche I've ever owned is a 944 Turbo S. Didn't need another convertible, so passed on the Boxster. Cayman S is theONLY Porsche that appeals to me, but would never want to see the 911 fade away at Porsche. schao

POST 13Original post

38...this is my first 2 seat sports car as I have had a parade of 4 seat sport sedans, CLK, S4, M3, etc. I find myself getting closer and closer to more pure sports car. Partly because my daily car has less multi-functional requirements as I own more cars in my family. If I need to drive kids around, I can grab a different car. Thought about 911 and would still love one, but without the need for back seats I find myself jazzed about a 2 seat mid-engined beauty like the Cayman S . It doesn't hurt that it is $20K less than the 997S I would buy. That'll buy some equipment in my new home theater . Each piece of information and picture gets me more excited about this car.

POST 14Original post

I'm also 62 and prefer a mid-engine configuration, both on the road and on the track. I think the 'aimed at younger drivers' label makes sense if we're talking about buying power. That is, I assume the comment applies to younger people having less money to invest in a $60 - 80,000 car. Further, I'm guessing that us older guys can recall seeing the old Spyders and 904's when we were 20 or 30, and coveting them beyond all passion. I read once that people buy the cars they wanted but couldn'tafford when they were young. I used to flag at the Sebring 12 hour and Daytona 24 hour races and Porsche Cayman works that way for me. I always wanted a road version of the 904's that I saw racing 'back in the day.'.

POST 15Original post

48. I enjoyed the Boxster but I really wanted a coupe version of the car all along, and of course more power than my 2.5L's 201. I give Porsche a lot of credit because the Cayman is actually quite a bit more than just aBoxsterwitha hardtop. The car will be mainly a weekend machine. Edited by - DaveC on 09/28/2005 11:13:26 AM

POST 16Original post

The comparison to the 904 really hit the mark for me.

POST 17Original post

The better half will be 28 when her Cayman S arrives..........brings the average age down

POST 18Original post

When my uncle gets his Cayman he'll be 43. Hopefully when I'm 20ish, he'll give me the Cayman - if and when he's bored with it - and get a nice 911/997. Hopefully that'll make me the youngest Cayman driver/owner.....And I'd better hope my parents pay for my insurance....

POST 19Original post

Damn, you guys are old. I will be 54 when the Cayman S arrives. The thing i find interesting in this thread is that Excellence magazine has a younger demographic
than Corvette magazine (both high class glossies published
by Ross) but this thread has owners about the same age as a similar thread on the Corvette Forum. Is it that young non-owners buy the magazine or that older and wiser drivers chooses the Cayman S over the Carrera ?

POST 20Original post

33, just. First Porsche after not wanting a Boxster (bad experiences with soft-tops) and not being able to afford a decent 996/997 that I would be content with. And wow, how did this thread get so far off topic? And s-line, how did you so conveniently get away without telling us how old you are? lol Jack

POST 21Original post

Jackwood, age is a number, it serves no purpose. Cayman S is Clairs car, I am trying to keep the Boxster S(open top fun) cheers Rod

POST 22Original post

I may have you all beat, 74 in Dec. Autocrossed my first Porsche('73 914 2.0) last weekend to a second place. SCCA still has the 914 in C stock with Miata 's, etc. that are still in production. Bought the 914 10-23-72 when almost 41. Loved the mid-engine since then, have a '98 Boxster in FL and looking forward to the Cayman. Just sold my '89 944 Turbo S track car andwill bereplacing it with the Cayman. Maury

POST 23Original post

To 914 geezer: You are an inspiration, sir, and nice to meet your acquaintance on this board!

POST 25Original post

53 next month Need 4 Speed My Boxster is 6 years old, time for a new track car figure I've got 2 decades of racing ahead of me to catch up with Maury why wouldn't you want to own a Cayman?

POST 26Original post

I'm 26 and if everything goes right, I'll be ordering mine early next year and get it after I turn 27... crossing my fingers...
