Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having come from a 993, I was expecting to find a button to manually raise/lower the spoiler. Not the case for a 996 C4S cab?

POST 3Original post

As above, it's not on the dash it's down by the fuse panel near your right ankle.

POST 4Original post

Quite a few of us wire another button in parallel on the dashboard, if you have spare button slots. I can't remember where I got the kit from now, but should be easy enough to search for.

We got ours from https://www.lllparts.co.uk/search/99661315500A02

POST 6Original post

I think I got mine from Design911. It's sat on the shelf waiting for me to wire it in

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers guys. I do indeed have a spare button on the dash so may look into that. Is it in the footwell to stop people crashing the hood mechanism into the spoiler or something?

POST 8Original post

No, its there as its not required whilst (normally) operating the car so doesn't have to be ergonomically placed.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not sure on that logic - surely it's no less required than it was on a 993...

POST 10Original post

So why did they have it on the 993? Does it not operate automatically when driving?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, deploys automatically in in the 993 in just the same way as the 996. That's why I'm wondering why the manual over-ride didn't stay on the dash. Is it in the footwell in a 996 coupe?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So the button is on the dash for a 993, a 996 turbo and a 997 but not a NA 996. Answers on a postcard...!

POST 14Original post

It's a gimmick only to be used when you wanna wash round it or a fit bird pulls up behind you at the lights.
