Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if slightly overfilling the engine oil can potentially cause damage to the engine of a 996? The dipstick level on my C4S was just below half level when I put it nearly 1 litre of oil last Sunday. A bit stupid I know. The dipstick is now reading just above the max mark.

POST 2Original post

The engine will be fine. A slight overfill, while being undesirable, won't do any real harm. A larger overfill is likely to contaminate the catalytic converter with unburnt oil & that is potentially an MOT failure.
