Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gents, the battery has gawn flat on my 996 C2 and I can open the door with the key but the bonnet pull lever will not work! Any ideas on how to open the bonnet to get to the battery??? Many thanks Dean

POST 2Original post

Dean, See http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=186226&mpage=1&key=battery&#186226 There are some terminals in the driver's foot well.

POST 3Original post

If Dean's is an early model, prior to the electric release, then he will need to pull the emergency unlocking cable. This is located in the headlamp area, but you need to remove the wheel arch liner to access it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is a 1999 Carrera C2 Cab and I have read and re read the hand book and can find nothing with the exception of details of a + terminal in the boot... but hey that won't open either! Electronic I think? May have to go down the cable by the headlight if you would be so kind as to advise more Richard? My email is [email removed] if it would be better than open public consumption. I was also thinking of a charger connected to the cig lighter just to get a little power in the battery? Appreciate all of your help, Cheers!

POST 5Original post

The electric release was introduced for Model Year 2001, so must be pure coincidence that your manual lever stopped working at the same time the battery went flat! Take a look here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=9064&view=findpost&p=44475
