Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, anyone on here in the Sarasota area and how do you like it? I will most likely be moving there from Chicago by the end of the year. My parents are there as well so at least I can do a good bit of DIY in their driveway. To those nearby, any good shops that you recommend in the area? I only know of Suncoast Porsche and Rennhaus. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I moved to Ft Myers from Tinley park a few years ago. I've only dealt with sun coast once with a splitter order. All other things I do myself.

POST 3Original post

I'm also in the Fort Myers area(Estero) and deal with Till's in Fort Myers.Good and honest shop.Sorry can't help you in Sarasota. You will love there.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am actually planning on living there half the year and in South Africa as well. You guys moved for work or to escape our "beautiful" Chicago weather? Thanks for the info. Looking forward to working on the car myself though!

POST 5Original post

I used to live in Sarasota and now live in South Sarasota County... Englewood. I love it. I also used to live in Chicago... both downtown and in Batavia.

Join Suncoast region of the PCA we are good folks and call Sebring our home track Rich

POST 7Original post

I grew up there - magical place (more magical decades ago). Hot as all get out in the summer. Great car town - lots of money.

POST 8Original post

Not far from Sarasota, I spend winters in Placida down near Boca Grande, and have a 996 Cabrio. Try Horst's Bavarian Auto in Venice....he is a good shop, and honest. Horst has maintained my P car as well as M-Bs for many years.

Been in this area off and on since mid 1990s love it

POST 10Original post

We have a seasonal home and moved from Siesta Key to San Remo (in Sarasota) and we are in LOVE with the area. My wife and I lived near Ft Lauderdale and visited 4 different areas in addition to Ft Lauderdale in an effort to assess and determine the "best fit" for us and landed on Sarasota. We love Sarasota for the balance of great beaches, culture, food, car show (DO NOT miss it), and lifestyle. It is more expensive than many areas but worth every penny.

POST 11Original post

Anyone have experience with 9Haus or Renn Haus in Sarasota? I want to find a local shop that will baby and take care of (honestly) my '97 C2S. Thanks

POST 12Original post

I have been vacationing on Siesta Key more than 25 yrs Love it ! Sun Coast is my dealer of choice for anything on my C4s or 951

POST 13Original post

you will find alot of the population is older. there are alot of problems dealing with them on a day to day basis.

POST 14Original post

Yes, the elderly are frustrating to deal with on the highway. But overall it is a great place; I grew up there. I will be back there in about 2 weeks for an extended Winter stay and taking the Porsche with me. I plan to take it to Rennhaus right away for an oil change and some other minor things so I'll let you know how I was treated. Also, planning on being at the Caffeine & Cars on the last Saturday of Feb. so maybe will see some Forum P-Cars there? I will also try to make the end of Jan. one but not sure about that.

POST 15Original post

Get out to Sebring Fb 4-7 th biggest PCA Club Race of the year. Rich

POST 16Original post

I'm a little north in Maderia Beach, St Petersburg. We have several great Indy's here. Also if you want to meet up for some DIY work I have access to McDill AFB. There is a Autocraft shop with several lifts, all the tools and only $5.00 an hour for a bay. I do oil changes etc. There is a guy here (INDY) that has a yard full of air cooled and water cooled P cars he's working on, very reasonable and trustworthy. There are several race shops here t that specialist in Porsche and our cars and coffee at the Dupont Registry is the best. No less than 15- 20 P cars in attendance. Cheers and welcome.

POST 17Original post

Yes, if you have any interest in cars, Porsche or not, you have to go to dupont jan 16, every 3rd sat, 7am-9am. Period.

POST 18Original post

Another vote for the Dupnt C&C I am not a muscle car or hot rod guy but there are always some exotics, imports, and classics to check out. Rich
