Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what oil pressure should I be getting in my 2003 996? at lower revs the pressure is towards the bottom of the gauge......forgive my naivity here but is this OK? at higher revs the pressure is towards the top of the gauge.

POST 2Original post

It generally up at 5 until the engine warms up. then hovers around 2/3 unless given beans when it can be up at 5 again...

POST 4Original post

Pretty much the same here although arm at idle mine is more 3.5/4.5. Although I try not to let the engine idle for too long

POST 5Original post

A question that I can answer! Had same thoughts and spoke to OPC mechanic on a drive about it a while back. The pressure varies, first 5-10 mins seems to be stuck at 5. Cruising about 3-4, accelerating can go up to 5 but increasesfrom cruise pressure, idle in traffic between 1-2. As long as it doesnt fall to 0.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mine is OK then...just checking
