Here is my issue. I want to buy a 997 with PDK around 2008-2010. 2010 is at the very top of my budget. I am seeing great ones out there but few have paddles because it was an option. If I buy say a 2008 or 2009 I have to settle for thumb PDK. Are the paddles really worth going up a few years ? Not sure how feasible it is to retrofit. For those with paddles do you use them often off the track ? Thanks David 84 Coupe 2006 4S Looking for a 997

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm in the middle of a paddle shift conversion on 996 Tip. I've had to buy a manual car steering wheel and some AMG paddles. The wiring is simple as the paddles or thumb things are just switches. On the tippy you have up/down on both sides, when adding paddles you just eliminate one on each side. I found several web articles on this subject. Google is your friend. Here is the thread I'm working from: 911uk.com - Porsche Forum : View topic - Complete DIY for tiptronic to paddle shift conversion
