Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I am new to the Porsche and any of their idiosyncrasy's. In a 2003 996 2C, recently purchased, the fuel pump (presumably) can be clearly heard in the passenger foot well before starting and sometimes when stationery. This fuel pump click/ chatter is not noticeable when motoring. Is this fuel pump noise normal ? one would have thought that with the high engineering standards of Porsche the pump location sound isolation could be better. As long as I know this fuel pump chatter is normal I will not worry about it and continue to enjoy and be impressed by the cars general engineering and performance. Cheers Richard

POST 2Original post

Hmmm. Never heard mine like that. I'd take it along to an OPC/specialist and let a tech have a listen.

POST 3Original post

That could be the sound of the oil circulation ?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Have traced noise to cabin AC air flow control mechanism. that just sounds like one of those electric diaphragm fuel pumps. cheers Richard

POST 5Original post

It's the pre-heat for the CD headunit laser/transport, it chatters like you wouldn't believe.
