I was messing with my hard top today and trying to get the rattles out of it when i notice that the rubber piece on the car itself, where the hard top connects to the car, is messing on one side. Does anybody know a part number for this or where i can find one? I suppose mine fell down somewhere underneath all that stuff the top sits on but wanted to just get a new one if i could.please see pictures for better description. thanks

Neither one of those.. There is a black rubber like piece that sits on top of that locking device on the body of the car. I made an arrow pointing to it. The other picture is missing that part, thats what i need because its like a bushing so there is no metal to metal contact from the hard to to the body of the car. I may have to buy the whole locking device to get it.. just not sure.
It looks like it might be #18 in this diagram http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=811-16 if so, it doesn't look like just the rubber is available - looks like you have to buy the entire "mounting" aparatus... It might be worthwhile to try to fabricate something out of a moldable rubber compound (something like (Sugru comes to mind) https://sugru.com/buy/?gclid=CjwKEAi...AqYxoChgzw_wcB good luck
I don't think you are missing a part - the piece you point to is the spring loaded connector for the rear defroster. It is only on the driver side of the car. See if this link helps: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/pTMAAOSwpDdVcrzH/$_35.JPG

This board is amazing at times. Very well answered. That makes perfect sense when it is pointed out.
Attached is a picture of 2 new old stock bayonet-style brackets purchased July, 2015. My 2004 was ordered as a hardtop delete option and the purchaser rec'd a $1,400 credit. Yay me... Bought these brackets, found a matching Midnight Blue Metallic/Savannah Beige hardtop in LA for $500 and had a heck of a great road trip at the end of Aug/early Sept. You can see that the plastic bit is indeed only on the rear window defog power/driver's side.
ah.. i do see that now.. Guess i need to adjust it a little more then. Thanks for the info to all!!!
I've found that most of my squeaks were coming from the door glass/side glass gasket, the tabs on the windshield frame and oddly enough the sun visors rubbing on the little tabs on the hardtop. Lubed all the rubber bits with lanolin and put a small piece of felt on each visor. This got rid of 90% of the irritating racket.
Hmmm... It looks like I had the part right, but no wire... In fact, they show a replacement rear window as well ($1200 + ) but no "w/defroster" option...
