Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not me, but a C4S-owning friend. He drove home from work, and now can't get the key out of the ignition barrel! He has OPC warranty- I've told him to ring them, but any ideas in the meantime? Thanks R.

POST 2Original post

Did they ever manage to extract the key? (It was jolly cold last night!) What was the problem?. Her indoors often has this problem with our car - it just requires jiggling the steering, but with the ignition off - dry steering - not recommended - is very heavy and it can be difficult to engage the steering lock and extract the key.

POST 3Original post

i remember reading about this somewhere. i think they talked about needing a new barrel

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not spoken to him today, but last I heard a nice man from Porsche Assist was on his way over to sort it. I'm assuming a new barrel too, but hopefully covered under wty. He's only had it a few weeks, but I'm sure RSJ who suplied it will sort him out if necessary.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update- Porsche Assist turned up at his house within 45 mins of the call, and sorted it out. Turned out it was something to do with the Tippy box having an inhibitor to stop you removing the car in gear, and it had got a bit stuck.

POST 7Original post

I had that a couple of times on Tiptronic - happened the other way round too, where you couldn't start the car because it thought you were in gear.
