Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

My poor little car seems to have developed a very low frequency resonance at a particualar engine speed. The resonance comes in between 4000 and 4400 rpm in any gear whne it is being driven. The resonance disapears if you dip in the clutch, and disapears if you are stationary and just rev the engine to that rpm range. And like I said, it is in every gear I try it in. Anybody have any clue what it could be. Must be something drive-line/clutch related? Jack

POST 2Original post

Anybody else suffering from this or heard of it? It is becoming more noticeable as the revs drop from 4500 down to 4000rpm. If you accelerate hard up to 4500, and then lift off the throttle and let it coast down to 4000 rpm it is most noticeable. It is like a flap or valve opens as the revs drop through this range and a low frequency resonance ensues. Any ideas at all? Jack

POST 3Original post

Last week was the first time I noticed it so after reading your post I tried it a couple times with the same results that you had. While decelerating from 4500 to 4000 rpms there is a rumble. Possibly could be something to do with the variocam operation. I would be interested to know the cause. My car currently has 4500 miles on it and has the 5 speed transmission.
