Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ask because the factory original Ferrari part is $12 including shipping. It's bearing #43 in the diagram. If so, some people are making an absolute killing in the Porsche flat 6 engine world when the Ferrari equivalent part is $12.

POST 2Original post

A Ferrari part for $12? Is it April 1st already?

$12 part. $12K labor to install it.

POST 4Original post

And a 1,000 mile, 12-month maintenance interval, whichever comes first (which we all know will be the 12 months).

POST 5Original post

R&D baby costs a lot but yes we are getting shafted.....

POST 6Original post

I don't think there's such a thing as a $12 internal engine part in a Ferrari. Hell, just the little yellow box with the black prancing horse that tiny Ferrari parts come in cost more than $12. However I've never heard of this type of engine bearing failing in a Ferrari V12 like in our IMS counterpart.

POST 7Original post

That bearing is not even close to the same.. That said, I just paid 250 bucks for 12 intake gaskets for the Ferrari Flat 12 I have apart right now. It all costs what it costs, otherwise, buy a different car.

POST 8Original post

Head gaskets for my gen1 viper were $1200...that was just the for the head gaskets not the labor as I did them myself. Back when I did them you had to get OEM as there were no aftermarket available

POST 9Original post

Interesting question, but the Ferrari "transfer shaft" and the Porsche M96 IMS are different engineering applications and as such subjected to dissimilar stresses, which undoubtedly call for different bearing solutions. Such case notwithstanding, Porsche engineers chose the wrong bearing and lubrication solution for the M96 IMS application. I'm equally sure that Modena engineers have had their share of "foibles", too. relinuca

POST 10Original post

Looks like an oil pump driveshaft bearing to me. Much easier application than our IMSB.
