I occasionally hear a creaking sound after releasing the brake pedal when the car is still. Happens more if the nose of the car is downward like stopping on a hill at a light. Sounds like an old door hinge. I am thinking the pivot bolts may need lube. Any thoughts or experience with this?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Completely normal, it's the pad squealing on the disc. You can do it in almost any vehicle if you slowly release the brake till the hydraulic pressure is overcome by potential energy, having it happen downhill fortifies the effect. PS Pivoting what now? The calipers are fix mounted, the only movement is the pads within the carrier assembly, the spinning rotor and of course the caliper pistons.
Boris, Thanks for replying so this is the case even if the wheel is stationary?
No of course not if you're hearing squeals at rest that's has nothing to do with what I typed. However, you mentioned frequency and downhill having a nexus. Usually that's the "groan" you get if you don't maintain hard brake pressure. If it's not motion related does it happen in your driveway parked?
Sometimes, it does. Sounds like (for example) The calipers retracting slowly needing lube (old door closing) is the best I can describe it. It is intermittent but happens.
Try holding harder pressure on the pedal and report back.
Will do. Really appreciate your input. Thanks again!
I looked at my brake fluid tank and there is some yellowish congealing constancy on the top of the cap . Stirred it up but but some thickness in the fluid at the bottom of the tank as well. I am guessing I need a flush. Any idea on the cost of a flush. Any insight appreciated.
