Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, I recently purchased a 08 Boxster S Limited Ed. As part of that package, you get the lovely chrono (clock) unit on your dash. The chrono works fine (runs and lights up accordingly). What surprised me though, is when I'm not in chrono mode, the unit sites idle at 'ready' position (12 o'clock), and it doesn't switch to 'clock' mode. I was told that these cars were like that then. Can someone confirm? I owned a 18 718 Cayman S with the sport chrono package as well, and it was both a clock and a chronograph. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I had a '12 Cayman S , and it functioned the same way your does. (i.e. No clock functionality on the chrono unit)

POST 3Original post

Yes, on the 987 it is a stopwatch and nothing else.

POST 4Original post

Welcome to P9, @pNewb -- Congrats on the 987. I think you'll enjoy it! Yeah, it is a bummer as the clock functionality is great fun on the 981. I was tempted to hack my 987 to add sport chrono (as I did on to my 981), but I will pass per the lack of clock functionality. Sigh... Again, welcome!

POST 5Original post

Search around. There are a few threads where people took out the useless Chrono and put a clock in the dash wart.
