Can anybody assist me in locating the thermostat on the attached picture. I think it might be where the red plastic cap is covering a pipe. Anyone know for sure ?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

It's on the other side of the engine. You'll see two hoses on the left hand side at the back, and the thermostat is inside the bigger one of the two. You are supposed to need a special tool to remove it, but you can do it with a large pair of pointed nose pliers. You have to take the housing off - and it might be worth getting a large worm-drive hose clamp, as it has those horrible spring clamps on it. Edit: a) Housing has to be removed. b) Attached instructions (courtesy of Porsche AG):
Thanks Richard, I will have a look where you suggest tomorrow.
