Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, has anyone actually fitted a HID kit themselves? I've looked at Rennlist and printed out the install instructions but just wondering if anyone has done it before, especially to a 996. Was it a fairly painless process? Do the headlights come out easily to gain access? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Easy peasy. 40 mins for both sides. Make sure you get a digital RF-filtered one to avoid interference with the electronics in the car. I went with the kit from www.hids4u.co.uk . They have been superb and really make a big difference during these gloomy nights...

I've got a kit from Alan at AceParts with sidelight bulbs. Do you have to take apart the inside of the luggage compartment, ie carpets, CD changer, etc to get at the back of the headlights? I'm looking forward to being able to see at night again

POST 4Original post

Last time i ordered bulbs from Ace parts they lasted about two months each!

Dervish, there's a small aperture at the side of the lights if you remove the carpet next to them. In your tool roll there's what looks like a very small but long socket with a movable long handle too (I'm sure it has a shorter name :? ). Put the socket into the aperture and turn and it unlocks the whole light unit which then just slides out and gives you access to all the bulbs etc. repeat on the other side. To put back slide the light in on the runners, insert the socket thing and turn the opposite way to lock the unit back in place. Its in the manual, unless you haven't got one (I haven't and had to learn by trial and error)

POST 6Original post

You must be pretty lazy then as we guarantee HID kits for 2 years and any other bulb for a minimum of 6 months.

POST 8Original post

POST 9Original post

Would that be about writing an e-mail to you.? Just like i did two weeks ago via E -Bay but got no response from you. That makes you the lazy one in my book.

Trying to fit today, where do you attach the ballast so it's secure? It looks alot more complicted now I've got the headlamps out, there's no cutting of wires, right? Just checking...
