Let me start by saying this is my experience with the 987.2. You may recall I told you all that the button wouldn’t program and then one day it did perfectly. Heading out today I noticed something. Unlike my Ford which can open the door before the turn and very far away, the Spyder is very sensitive to centering on the opener (genie in my case). My take is it’s not a wide fan beam but rather pinpoint in configuration. Additionally, it opens best from about 15 feet away with attention given to center on the door. I’m not sure this will help you when trying to program it but it makes sense as to why I failed and then got it to work perfect. It’s akin to the lock button on our keys in range, Ford can be almost to the store entrance and hear the twin beep of lock engagement whereas the Spyder needs a much closer range. So if you have had failure in trying to program the button, try 15 feet out dead center, it doesn’t cost anything to see if it works.
