Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For a year or so I've known my oil cooler was getting to the end of it's life (coated in pink fluff). At my yearly service last month my mechanic informed me it was now weeping and could do with changing. Knowing what's involved I didn't want to tackle the job myself so booked it in with him to do it. Just picked the car up with new cooler fitted as well as new seals, coolant and inlet manifold gaskets. Price came in at £704 (inc.VAT) for Mahle oil cooler, seals, manifold gaskets,anti-freeze and 8 hours labour. Some of the inlet manifold bolts were seized in and the engine mounts also seriously tight to undo, other than that, job went pretty smooth. Money well spent as I'm off down to St Tropez in it next month with my son and doubt we'd have made it there with the original cooler on. Some snaps:

That looks like a fun job! Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and send the car to a garage - now you have peace of mind, especially with the drive to the south of France coming up... :heat:
