Short: I need to know a way to remove the locking lug on a 987 Cayman S . Should be the original lug with multiple splines. Long: My frunk is locked, my battery is dead, my door key tumbler doesn't work. I have no way into the car because something keeps draining the battery. I need to remove the front wheel so I can get to the manual frunk cable popper so I can charge the battery. Unfortunately, my original lug key is in the frunk as well. I'm willing to buy another key to keep outside the vehicle, or a kit that removes lugs, even if it destroys them.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I’m not sure if those locking lug keys are unique to each lug, but at the least, since if Porsche sold let’s say 100,000 of your locking lugs I would doubt there would be 100,000 variations of the splines. Typically there would be enough variations so that it would be darn near impossible to find the one that matches your locking lug. But having never run into that problem I can’t say for sure. There are ways to remove locking lug nuts without the key, you can search YouTube for some methods but most involve buying a socket which is a shade smaller than the lug nut/stud and pounding it onto the lug nut with a mallet, obviously destroying the nut, but you don’t have many other options at this point. There may be other aftermarket options out there if you do some digging. It may also be possible, if you know someone with a welder, to spot weld a socket onto the nut/stud, allowing you to back it off with a ratchet or breaker bar. FWIW, fearing a dead battery and the headaches related accessing the frunk, I MacGyver’ed an alternate cable release tucked up under the front bumper air intake vent which I can access with a Philips screwdriver by removing the fog light housing, not wanting to have to jack up the car, remove the wheel and hope I could get a good enough grip on the tiny cable provided for the emergency release. Good luck with getting into the frunk, keep us posted as to your method, and success.
So I went to O'Reilly's and got a bolt remover for stripped bolt heads, hammer it onto the locking lug, and unscrewed it. I quickly found out the drunk emergency pull cable has been removed so I'm going to get some bike brake cable and make one similar to how you have yours and then I'm make an additional positive and negative cable run to the battery so I can jump it with hidden cables if needed. Thank you the suggestion on the cable!
As far as getting into the car. I've heard that a good mobil locksmith can work miracles. They can fish a slim-jim down the driver's window and get to the handle. Once the door is opened you have more conventional options for opening the frunk lid
I did manage to get into the car. I was able to slide the passenger window down slightly to fish a wire to the door handle.
Were you able to use one of the "jump" methods to electrically open the frunk? Either from the fuse box or powering the battery by connecting through the cig lighter outlet.
