Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I'm not sure which forum this should go in, but I had cause to peer under the front spolier of my Cayman yesterday. I noticed that there was a square hole in the undertray on the rhs/drivers side (in the UK), about 300mm in, and about as big as a cigarette packet. It gives access to some coolant pipework, and is a 'designed in' hole - i.e. not damaged by an object. Am I missing a panel or cover, or are they all like this? SS7

POST 2Original post

You are not missing anything. This is a flow through hole. You will notice that it's just past the front radiators. As air flows in, to the radiator and then out through these holes. Look at this post in another thread and you will see these holes. You will note from the post, that it refers to air flow through: http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-modi...-modifications/14151-need-help-photo-underside-bumper-tiptronic.html#post170809

POST 3Original post

Thanks. I'll take a look, but I'm pretty sure there aren't four holes. I take it only slushbox'd cars are so equipped? SS7

POST 4Original post

The picture was just an example. I believe you have one of those boxes on each side just behind the lips as flow through for the radiators.

POST 5Original post

You are not missing anything. This same "hole" appears in the same place on left hand drive cars-- I bevieve it is there to accomodate the two horns that can be seen directly above that opening--to let out the noise! Air flow through the radiators exits through the wheel well liners directly behind the radiators.

POST 6Original post

That s correct - the air then flows across the front brakes for cooling purposes. brad

POST 7Original post

Well I will be sure to tell my service adviser this since he was the one that told me what those slots were for. Freaking bonehead.
