Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For the last several weeks I have been hearing a whinning noise coming on about 1500 rpm and getting faster as I rev the engine. At a stop light I can rev the motor to 4000 rpm NO NOISE. Tonight I put the car up on four jack stands and put it into drive and rev the motor again, the wheels are moving NO NOISE... Could this be a wheel bearing or etc? Any ideas guys???? Brian

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The whine is heard at about 1500-2000 rpm but only from about 15mph to about 50mph. I can take the car up to 65 mph and let off the gas, letting it idle around 2000rpm and NO NOISE....
