Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

987.2 Cayman with Bose (PCM 3.0) - No sound - need wiring diagrams! Anybody have a complete wiring diagram for a 987.2 (2009-2012) PCM3.0 audio system w/Bose? Diagnosing a non-op factory Nav + Bose setup. Radio fires up, thinks it's playing music, but no sound. Already found the dead fuse in slot E4 and now have 12V at the amp... but still nothing. Wiring diagram would be super helpful. Also, there is an 18-way socket on the amp that is not plugged in, in my car. Can anyone comment on what's contained specifically in that plug? (Long story short my car is a complete .1 to .2 conversion, including electronics so I'm wondering if a harness is missing from my car...) For reference, a photo (not mine) of the amp in the car... it's the middle plug I'm wondering about. (In the photo, the amp is photographed upside-down. The connector on the far right is the optical connection, the one on the far left, the big one, I have in the car, it contains the 12v line... but I don't have anything that plugs into the 18-pin smaller connector in the middle).

Not sure I'm following you....what do you mean by 18-way socket? Are we talking about the harness that connects to the amp behind the lower panel in the frunk? Has it worked before, or are you just completing the switchover? I recently took out all my Bose equipment, and the connector at the amp isn't just a simple plug in, you have to start it in place, then squeeze/press the piece on the side of the harness connector as you slide the connector into the amp fully and lock it in place. Hard to describe, but if you play around with the harness plug before you try to connect to the amp, you can figure out how it works. If you think you have a bad amp, let me know. I just gutted my car, and have several pieces of the Bose stereo available... CDR-24, speakers, amp, CD changer, etc.

I updated my original post for clarity. This is a ".2" car - so it has PCM 3.0 . As far as *I* know, the Bose amp with this setup is under the passenger seat. (Refresh your screen to see my updated edited post above, I stole a picture from eBay. THAT is the amp I have.) When the car was still a ".1" and had the PCM 2.1, the Bose amp was in the frunk. As it stands right now, there is nothing in the frunk related to the audio system. It's entirely possible the shop that did the conversion missed a harness... tho from what I can tell, it's all taped in a bundle and hard to simply "leave out" part of the harness. Shop says they tested and listened to the stereo before removing it from the donor car and it all worked. They spent some time on it and couldn't get it to make any sound once transplanted though, they suspected "bad amp" and as such gave me an extra one... but swapping in the extra didn't improve things either. I *did* discover the fuse in E4 was smoked, and once replacing it, was able to see 12V at the amp... but still no sound. So something else is up. If I had a wiring diagram it would help me to start at square one, make sure nothing is missing, and trace out all the wires to see if I've got a break somewhere. Worst case I rip it all out and just stuff a basic deck and pair of door speakers in. But I'd rather *not* do it if I can make this setup work.... I prefer the look of the factory integration, and keeping this setup won't cost me anything.

POST 4Original post

Did you ever find the Bose amp diagram you were looking for? This thread has some really blurry jpegs , but I was hoping to find something a little easier to read and perhaps more authoritative. Thanks in advance.

POST 5Original post

No I gave up and ordered a basic deck and speakers.

You may want to consider AllDataDIY.com Subscription is around $18/annually unless you find a coupon (there are always coupons - google them). For my 2009 Boxster they have complete diagrams for the entire vehicle. One trick in viewing them to keep them from being blurry, when you first open the diagram you'll see a small version of it and it will have a button to view full size or print. Those are the blurry ones. To see a nice clear diagram that you can enlarge without the resolution blowing out - right click on the small version in your browser and select "Open in new tab" It will open at full resolution, which is quite clear and can be easily expanded to read the color codes and wire connection labels. Good luck!
