Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got caught by elements before I could make the garage!! What are they like in the snow! Wasnt too sure so took the old trusty gold driver!!!

POST 4Original post

Small beer Weve had 5 to 6 inches completely unpredicted (Belfast) and mine is almost buried in the driveway. Will try and get a pic but yours is only a dusting! Pathetic male oneupmanship is alive and well lol Andrew

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

we had a lot more last night and expecting the belfast stuff to come across and hit us today!!!! Still no one has said what they are like in the snow!!!!!

POST 7Original post

On the subject, how does the Carrera 2 cope in the snow without four wheel drive? My Elise was a nightmare in the snow. Ultra light and relatively big rear tyres make the worst combo. No traction control either tho what good that is in snow I dont know. Im sure the 911 will be better but those big 285s wont help.

POST 8Original post

The most fun you can have with your clothes on    Seriously though, if it's a Carrera 4 it's OK, but the tyre tread isn't really suited to snow so if you haven't got room to let it slide best not to risk it. I use mine all year round, but probably wouldn't with 2WD (otherwise I would have a real GT3 by now, instead of a fake one!) Biggest handicap in snow with any recent car is ABS - bloody difficult to stop in snow without the wheels locking up to build up a snow bank in front of the tyre! (Again, unless you've got room to do it sideways - then it stops really quick! :mrgreen

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my friend says his old 70s beetle was fab in the snow, same principles I guess but would like to hear from a porsche owner about its handling, especially with the big tyres!!!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

also my carerra 2 has psm, dont know if thats a help or not!!!!

POST 11Original post

On hard packed snow PSM is useful to stop the car sliding about too much, but on deep soft snow switch it off as it will just keep putting the brakes on every time the car slides a little bit, and you'll end up going nowhere.

POST 12Original post

I took mine to work in thick snow last year, c2 with none of this modern electronics rubbish .. and it wasnt too bad! Just avoid any slopes/hills and its not a problem!!

POST 13Original post

This photo was taken from my drive early last Feb. Hope we get even more this year as I love the stuff I'm sure I got down there in a ford focus ok and that's a pretty busy B road at the bottom!! Are we saying don't even attempt this in a C2 with Pirellis? PS. drive safe everyone even if it is sideways!

POST 14Original post

You might get down there OK but going back up might be a problem! You'll just wheelspin all over the place!

POST 15Original post

You're prbly right! My C2's got TC.... and now it has..... a tow-rope to which the Wife's chelsea tractor can be attached if it comes to it. Come to think of it I could drive the 4X4 up and down the hill a few times until it clears a path for the C2
