Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After many years without a Porsche ,previous being , 3.2 986's, 996 and lastly a 964. I'm now back into a 2000 C4 which belonged to a fellow member on here for many years. I sold my last 964 to fund a house move 6 years ago. In the interim we've predominately had MX5's and Land Rovers (towing duty). Finally received approval for my new purchase Looking forward to being back in the community and Porsche tinkering Nigel

Much more 'modern' and useable. But missing something special about , can't put my finger on it. the 996 certainly quicker and more nimble. Such an underrated car

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. First list of jobs is power steering pipes (on rack), brake pipes and CV boots

I never had the pleasure of driving a 944, and your description of the difference between it and your 996 seems entirely logical. I guess much depends upon one`s first Porsche ownership experience using that Porsche as a datum from which to make comparisons..? My first Porsche was a badly corroded 69 912 bought in the seventies, that was followed by a 77 911 SC in the 80`s and after that an 82 SC, in the 90`s then after a break from Porsche enjoying more pseudo vintage and somewhat more involving driving pleasures in an old V8. I returned to Porsche in the form of a 991.1 C4S.. Which is a bit of a space ship by comparison to my old V8, and lacks the driver involvement to some degree that one can have on the road while within the speed limits... No wonder track days seem to have grown exponentially in popularity over the years. I am rather fond of my 991, it is a wonderful design and has performance more than I could ever hope to take advantage of. It`s form and function seem to fit well with all sorts of traffic conditions providing creature comforts that are well beyond that of my previous Porsche`s and much simpler and safer to pilot too. For sure going modern works well enough in the passage of time, but a bit of old driving style fun while one is young enough to enjoy it seems like a pretty reasonable pastime too... I hope you really enjoy your updated Porsche ownership experience Tooslow.. :thumb: ld:
