Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I just noticed an ad in the latest Excellence magazine for www.wingbadges.com Is this an original Porsche idea? For some reason I believe it might be too much and it will not go with the Porsche look. http://www.wingbadges.com/UserFiles/wingbadges/Image/Project14.pn

POST 2Original post

Upon first inspection I thought they were magnetic like so many multi-colored ribbons people have on their cars for various causes. These are awful.

POST 3Original post

I too have been milling this over.... I think the badges would have to be smaller, but could most def. be done with taste. My /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/twocents.gif

POST 4Original post

It's really a Ferrari thing - the prancing horse logo on the front fender, it's an option they call 'shields.' brad

POST 6Original post

My only concern...damn those Ferrari Guys! I love the idea /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/cry_smile.gif

POST 7Original post

I don't think it really has a place on the Porsche body. One on the front is enough. IMO Russ.

POST 8Original post

Thinking about switching the two...if only I could get a new hood without any holes punched into it :-(

POST 9Original post

It's a Ferrari 'thing'. I believe they are called 'scuderia shields' and they are OEM optional equipment.I don't think they look particularly good on the Ferrari's I've seen around here, but I guess it's a matter of taste.Don't care for it at all on a Porsche. POST 10Original post

Agree! One badge on the hood is enough otherwise it would make it look like a 'ferrari wannabe'. I know that BMW has been very big lately on badges, whereas the new M models have about 5 M badges all around

POST 11Original post

I think I have 8 Porsche crests in and on my car. Let's see: wheels = 4; front bonnet = 1; steering wheel = 1; headrests = 2. I need another 2 on the sides? No thanks. One on the top of my shifter ball would look cool though. PORSCHE is spelled out: mats = 2; license plate frame = 1; rear window decal = 1. I'll bet I forgot someplace. Yep. I definitely own a Porsche! /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/dance.gif

POST 12Original post

Hey if you know your cars you know it's a Porsche a mile away. No more badges for this hombre. Besides I think it draws your eye to it and no the overall car's beauty. Edited by - PACayman on 07/13/2006 2:10:49 PM

i saw picture of your black nude cayman from the weekend gathering. those curves are best naked...you da man.

Thanks, MT.! With a sexy butt like hers, my 'Cay' needs to strut her stuff. Brings tears to my eyes and makes me go /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/eek2.gifeach and every time I see her. Edited by - Mr. MRI on 07/13/2006 4:12:43 PM

Keep that cheasythingoff your car. The proper look for a Porsche is UNDERSTATED. Don't pimp your ride like that.

POST 19Original post

I love the porsche emblem, but this additional tag makes the car look a lot busier. Not my preference

POST 20Original post

I believe that, for Ferarri, the shield is a racing reference because their competition cars often had them. I had them on my 328 and was comfortable with that because there's nothing subtle about a Ferarri anyway. You experts here correct me if i'm wrongbut I don't think Porsche used them on racing cars. Therefore no shields on MY Cayman S.

POST 22Original post

Is that badge a legal part marketed by Porsche? What is the part number and what is its intended use?

POST 23Original post

looks like all the examples of the badges are photoshopped. i guess even the manufacturer couldnt find anyone willing to mar their porsche with the 'badges'...all said, i have considered removing the wheel badges and putting a small badge on the hatch around the 'cayman s' badge.....maybe not.

POST 24Original post

PACayman Quote: 'Hey if you know your cars you know it's a Porsche a mile away.' Exactly! There is no mistake that it's a PORSCHE. No need for extra badges. Unlike BMW, they need to put Ms everywhere to show it's there performance model. PORSCHE is Performance period!

POST 25Original post

This brings up a sore subject for me because a local Boxster owner did this to his car with the stick-on logos available from Porsche, as well as he placed some other logos elsewhere on his car, hand-painted his calipers red and has taken 1st place in the last 3 or 4 concours events we've had, although he's best friends with the concours organizer. This year we had someone else organize the event, penalties were assigned for non-factory modifications (I got dinged 1 point for my pedals but that's OK), and he didn't even show up! Anyway I always thought they looked terrible, but probably because of the car/owner who first exposed such an idea to me. Boothe Design is right, if they don't have Porsche's approval to make the crest Porsche attorneys will slap them down. You could always do what the local Boxster owner did though and that is buy them from Porsche and do it yourself.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
