Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have cocoa leather seats. The color is great, but on the lower two-thirds of the left side of the driver's seat there is a wear pattern which looks as if the color has worn off. I've entered the car porably 50-75 times at the most. I've never had wear where the color is gone, even with side bolsters before with BMW's. I would think there could be some, but this is dramatic. Anyone else have this problem or are my clothing choices too abraisive?

POST 2Original post

Have you treated the leather? (search for leather care for some ideas) My one year old cocoa is just like new but I'm also sort of careful getting into and out of the car, mainly to avoid scuffing the door panels with my boots.

POST 3Original post

Well, I didn't treat the leather yet because the car is only four months old. How often should I treat the leather? Thanks.

POST 4Original post

Because I'm in a very dry climate I did mine as soon as I got it and then again about every three months. In fact your question made me get up and go do it again. Also as an afterthough make sure you don't have any of those jeans with metal bits that will destroy all leathers or a big wallet in your hip pocket.

Santa Fe: Having lived in Albuquerque for three years I know what you mean by dry climate, but here in Oregon, dry is not what people first think of. Moisture is our middle name!! Or perhaps, damp, wet, torrential...well you get the picture. I do wear Levi's, so I'll look at the rivets.

POST 6Original post

I have Cocoa also, please post some Pics, then we can tell you more!

POST 7Original post

I had unusual wear patterns on both seats. Ive got the sports adaptive seats with the adjustable lumbar. I suspect that the seats when pumped up are stretching the leather beyond its limits. I posted an article with pics on the site before and contacted the porsche dealer to see if they would be covered by warranty. It may also be from wear of the seat belt rubbing against the sides of the seats as well. The dealer said they would have to look at it when I brought it in. That was last fall right before I was parking for the winter and my dealer is 5 hours away. So I snapped some shots and emailed them to them and told them they would have to look at it in the spring when I get her back on the road.

POST 8Original post

Well, unfortunaely I haven't been able to get my pixel number low enough to get the photos on the web site (I am undoubtedly technology challenged) but I did bring the car into the dealership for that, the rear hatch "thunk" and a "milky" blemish on the the Arctic silver paint. The dealership had the leather painted/dyed, but because it was a wear issue, I picked up the tab to the tune of $73-and the result is so good I can't begin to see where the discoloration or chafing was. The leather looks brand new. I'll probably have to do this periodically because I suspect it's how I get in and out of the car. The milky film in the paint was becasue of moisture getting trapped under the plastic coating the Porsche's have during shipping, and that was taken care of with a heat gun and denatured alcohol! Looks great now. The "thunk" of course was unable to be replicated by the dealer, so I'm on a holding pattern on that one. Thanks for your concern and help!

Glad to hear two out of three got sorted out for you (and I can't believe the low cost of the charge to recondition your seat!) I'm sure you're glad to have your baby in tip-top.
