Does anyone know if this is a standard feature on this car? Also PAS = Porsche Active Suspension? Any advice appreciated? Thanks, Adam

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Neither standard on 996 Targa. ~ Maxie
I thought psm was standard on facelift cars, i.e Targa? Maybe not... PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) not on any 996's, only 997s- standard on S versions.
PSM was an option on the facelifted cars. PASM not available until the 997
Ah OK, thanks for the info. In that case what are peoples oppinion on the importance of PSM? As a new porsche driver will it make me that much less likely to have a 'worrying moment'? Thanks as always for the advice!, Adam
Put it this way, I've driven my C4S for the last year and 25k miles, and I have seen the psm light blink come on once, when I booted it on an icy road to see what happens. So in normal driving, its fine without it IMO. On the other hand, the similar DSC system in my old BMW 330 certainly saved my bacon when I hit a patch of diesel on a m-way sliproad.
My daily drive is a 996 Targa without PSM. Pushing the car really hard or doing silly things yes I will have moments but I am expecting them and asking the chassis for them. If you cannot drive and treat the thing with little or no respect then you need PSM.
If like me you are new to 911's it's dead easy to decide - get it - you never know when it might just save your bacon. Peter
