Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick question: Does anyone know whether the published width of 1770 mm for a 996 facelift include the external mirrors? Thanks

POST 3Original post

Actually, it's no laughing matter, many of the newer houses being built have fairly narrow openings on single width garages. My last house I clipped the side of the wing mirrors a few times in my Golf. I'd hazard a guess that the width quoted in the original post includes the wing mirrors. ~ Maxie

POST 4Original post

I've put sound insulating foam on the drivers side wall so that the door does not accidently scrape the wall when opening, driving into the garage not so much of a prob, getting out of the car is a bit of a squezze. I reckon if I lose 5kg it will make life easier. Width is 1765mm at the back, I would add another 10cm for mirrors. You can alwys fold them before you drive the car into the garage.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks. yes the entry to my garage is quite narrow 2100 mm to be exact Shouldn't be a problem, i was indeed planning on putting some carpet on the wall...

POST 6Original post

Is that 210cm wall to wall or door width? If wall to wall, not sure how you will open the doors. My garage is 240cm wide and is just manageable to get out. ie passanger side is close to the wall. As for carpet, if spare then cool. Otherwise just get the roll underfloor insulating foam from Wickes and No More Nails. I put about 5 layers of the foam stuff, total cost sub £10
